Mount Chephren reflecting in Waterfowl Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta

The Waterfowl Lakes are surrounded by dramatic mountains, most notable Mount Chephren (3,266m) and Howes Peak (3,295m). Located 57 kilometers north of Lake Louise on the Icefield Parkway, the Waterfowl Lakes are fed by glacial meltwaters from the Mistaya River and the Peyto Glacier. Like the name suggests, this is a destination for birdwatchers (and hikers). Over 250 bird species have been documented in this part of the Canadian Rockies.
